Job Description

Database Engineer                                     






We are looking for an experienced database ‘guru’ to support the Software Development team, working to develop and constantly improve the company’s back end database infrastructure for its market leading gaming platform.



Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Working alongside developers, testers and other stakeholders, you will help deliver ongoing maintenance and technical improvements to help provide a scalable path for the growth of our platform.
  • You will be involved in the prioritising of requests from our global operations teams and clearly communicating these priorities with colleagues at all levels.
  • As part of the Software Development team, you will be responsible for administering the company’s database estate
  • Take a leading role in the Tier 3 support of our operations teams, supporting platform installations.


The person should also have a good knowledge of Continuous Integration (CI) and security best practices, constantly striving to improve automation and monitoring.



Skills and Abilities:

Essential (Strong in at least 4 of the following)

  • Extensive experience of MySQL database technologies
  • Commercial experience working in an Agile environment (Scrum) and wider exposure to modern methodologies including DevOps, Test Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration (CI)
  • Administration of clustered databases
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases including MySQL, MongoDB
  • Docker/Container management
  • Experience of coding preferably in Java/C++/Bash
  • Administering virtual environments
  • Spring


Desirable but not essential:

  • Familiarity with Atlassian products such as Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, Zephyr or similar
  • Git
  • Networking
  • Any experience in working with gaming terminals/machines (i.e. SAS etc)
  • Systems Administration
  • Liquibase or similar
